Energy pass

Owners and landlords obtained last year the chance to get a free Energy Pass, within the framework of the German Energy Agency DENA federal field trials and tests, in connection with state-promoted, on-site energy consultations.

The energy pass, binding from 4th of January 2006 for every change of tenant or owner in accordance with the European Union Directive, documents the constructive and energetic situation (energy requirements) of a building.

Tenant and landlord, owner and potential purchaser therefore get information as to the constructive and energetic condition of the building, the expectation as to additional costs, and the recommended measures for the renovation or modernization of the building.

The Energy Pass should show the energy requirements of a building in a user-friendly and easily understood manner, and offer the purchaser or tenant of an apartment or building a rapid orientation.

It contains a total rating of the building using energy efficiency grades from A to I. The basis of the energy analysis is the calculation of the energy loss through the outer structure of the building and the heating system.

To thereby improve the condition of the building by the client, the Energy Pass can be utilized in connection with an energy consultation.

With the implementation of renovation measures, the building can reach a better energy efficiency rating. The building experiences an increased value and comfort level, and an improvement in rentability.

Furthermore, energy and costs will be saved, and a contribution to the environment and the climate will be achieved.
